Hello.
As I explained in my welcome page, my goal is to spread stories about international news, culture, politics and events surrounding Japan and the UK. One theme I am especially passionate about exploring with my readers is on the topic of being mixed race.
I was born in England to a white English father and a Japanese mother. During my first few years in England I never came across any events that made me aware of my mixed background, I spoke fluently in English, and just a little bit of Japanese. England was so diverse in race and background, that I hardly noticed anything to do with race back then. It was when we moved back to Japan that I really began to take in what my background meant to me, and how it shapes who I am.
On my blog, I plan to share personal experiences I have had regarding my background, stories of the multicultural people I have met, what it is like having my background in Japan, and I will give my opinions on debates and conversations that are prominent amongst people like me.
My hope is that these stories will offer insight to those curious about life across multiple cultures and spark meaningful conversations.
